LCERPA presents Economic Outlook, an emerging event designed to give the public more insight into the economic well being of our region. The keynote address is delivered by a notable economist who shares their expectation for what the next year has in store for our local, regional and national economy. Join us this year as we welcome keynote speaker Craig Wright, BA Economics '85, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist at RBC.
 
The luncheon will be held in the Senate and Board Chamber at WLU on February 19, 2020, from 11:30-1:00. Registration starts at 11 a.m.

LCERPA presents Economic Outlook 2015, featuring keynote speakers Derek Burleton (VP and Deputy Chief Economist, TD Bank Financial Group) and Dr. Jeffry Frieden (Harvard University).

Derek Burleton leads a team of economists at TD Bank Group, providing leading analysis on the Canadian economy and financial markets. As a respected commentator, Derek has been quoted by many media outlets – including the Globe and Mail, Financial Times and the Economist. He also is frequently interviewed on the radio and television. Derek maintains a strong interest in Canadian public policy issues, and has written substantive reports on health care sustainability, education and immigration reform. He participates in a number of advisory and steering committees both internal and external to TD Bank Group and currently serves on the Board of the Toronto Association of Business Economists (TABE).
Jeffry Frieden is Professor of Government at Harvard University and the 2015 Economist-in-Residence a the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics. He specializes in the politics of international monetary and financial relations. He is the author of Currency Politics: The Political Economy of Exchange Rate Policy (2015); and (with Menzie Chinn) of Lost Decades: The Making of America's Debt Crisis and the Long Recovery (2011). Frieden is also the author of Global Capitalism: Its Fall and Rise in the Twentieth Century (2006), of Banking on the World: The Politics of American International Finance (1987), of Debt, Development, and Democracy: Modern Political Economy and Latin America, 1965‑1985 (1991), and is the co-author or co-editor of over a dozen other books on related topics.
