Your Impact:

Every year LCERPA organizes Economic Outlook, a community-focused event designed to give the public more insight into the economic wellbeing of our region, and supports the research of our members. We support our members by providing small research grants for research generation and dissemination. Most LCERPA funding is used to hire students as research assistants, providing them with valuable experience working with complex data.

Recently Funded LCERPA Projects

Dr. Christine Neill is using census data to examine the living arrangements of children in care in private homes in Canada, how those are affected by different provinces’ child welfare systems, and how they have changed over time.

Dr. Christos Shiamptanis is studying links between inflation, interest rates, and default to better understand whether government debt levels in developed countries are sustainable in a high interest rate environment, and what is the likelihood that inflation will be needed to offset the effects of higher debt levels.

Dr. Zara Liaqat is using the terrorist attack in India in 2016 as a quasi-natural experiment to investigate the effect of an uncertainty shock on exporting behavior of Pakistani firms.
